Bert – Guitar & Vocals

Bert is a native San Antonio, Texan. Go South San West Campus Cougars!

His love of guitar began at an early age at a small local music academy in San Antonio.  While he was still in junior high school, his love of music prompted him to band together with six other young musicians from his school and thus formed his first performing band.  He later furthered his musical education by studying classical guitar at the University of Texas at El Paso.  Over the years, his informal education in guitar has spanned many different genres including blues guitarist John Lee Hooker, country guitarist Roy Clark, jazz guitarists Wes Montgomery and Al DiMeola, and rock guitarists Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen, and John Frusciante.  Since that first band in junior high school, Bert has played in a number of bands that includes The Mixx, Off The Hook, Sonic Uprising, Chitlins & Grits, and Kristal and Silver.

To date, Bert’s all-time favorite song is “Knee Deep” by Parliament Funkadelic because of its lively up tempo beat and of course… because of its guitar solo by Michael “Kid Funkadelic” Hampton.

Bert played Professional Football (Pittsburgh Steelers, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and San Antonio Riders) but is now an Information Technology Nerd that loves the guitar and all genres of music!
